Unemployment rate rose in Romania in January 2010 to 8.1%, according to data by National Employment Agency (ANOFM).

In December 2009, unemployment was 7.8%, compared to only 4.9% in January 2009.

ANOFM data show that the number of jobless people was 740,982 in January 2010, a rise by 31,599 from December 2009.
