Toyota is recalling around 12,500 of its third-generation hybird cars in Romania because of concerns over a braking problem.
The move is part of an international recall of 400,000 Prius models manufactured between the 2009 summer and end of January 2010.
Vehicle owners are to receive individual notifications from Toyota dealers, and will be invited to have their cars checked.
A check-up is estimated to take approximately 30 minutes.
The problem relates to what company representatives describe as 'inconsistent brake feel' during slow braking on bumpy road surfaces. They, however, insist that there have been no accidents related to this issue in Europe.
Toyota sold a number of 3,996 vehicles in Romania in 2009.
Starting autumn last year, Toyota recalled more than eight million vehicles worldwide because of braking problems.
