Finnish mobile phone company Nokia is not the only one that transferred one of its plants to Cluj county (central Transylvania).
Fujikura Automotive Romania, part of the Japan – based Fujikura group has decided to close one of the automotive cables units from Spain and transferred the production to Cluj county – based plants, according to Ziarul Financiar.
Not the same thing happened with the 300 employees.
At present, the 2 units from Cluj city and Dej have 2,000 employees and are Fujikura's largest production units in Europe.
In 2009, the Japanese company closed 2 Transylvania – based plants: the one from Jibou (Salaj county) and the one from Campeni (Alba county).
The production has been transferred to Cluj, Dej, and Maroc units.
Fujikura Automotive Romania estimates for 2009 a 20% lower turnover than in the previous year, which is expected to reach approximately € 20 M.
The company works with clients such as Volkswagen and Valeo.
